We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more info on Metroid Prime 4, but at least now fans can understand why Metroid Prime 4 wasn’t at E3 2019, and why Nintendo is continuing to keep quiet about the upcoming title.
METROID PRIME 4 2022 UPDATE
In the update video, Takahashi touched on the fact that it would be a while before we heard more, stating, “it will be a long road until the next time we will be able to update you on the development progress, and development time will be extensive.” He did promise that the company will continue to develop the title to the best of their abilities, as they want it to stand shoulder to shoulder with the previous games in the Metroid Prime series. While we had hoped to see something from the latest Metroid game at E3 2019, it makes sense that we didn’t. Retro Studios is based out of the United States, and Nintendo believes that by working closely with Retro, they can create the best Metroid game possible. It seems obvious that Nintendo would want to build on the recent success with further games. The last Metroid game to be released was 2021’s Metroid Dread which was the best-selling game in the franchise’s history, selling over 3 million copies worldwide. There are 16 games in the Metroid series, with the 17th, Metroid Prime 4, still in development. The games follow bounty hunter Samus Aran, who protects the galaxy from those looking to harness the power of parasitic Metroid creatures. So that’s happening, and they need to tell us when that release date is.” Metroid is an action-adventure sci-fi video game series created and published by Nintendo.
